LUGBALLON LYRICS BY MUSIEK SOOS GROND
“The song is about the journey that we as musicians share with one heart and how we can inspire each other and our audiences"
Well-known musicians, Joshua na die Reën, Kaleidoskoop, Len Muller, Leon Gropp, Lizandra Winter and Liani Reynolds recently introduced Musiek Soos Grond to the public. This concept aims to provide a platform for contemporary artists to share their breathtakingly beautiful lyrics, stories and versatility on stage.
They announced the first two dates and confirmed that Villa Avianto (Bloemfontein 27 April 2019) and The Big Red Barn (Pretoria 4 May 2019) be the hosts of two magnificent music shows, which promises to showcase some of the most gripping music and talent ever seen in South Africa!
To make it even more special, the group of musicians also recorded and produced a new single and music video together which they just released. Lugballon is a beautiful contemporary song, with the message that your outlook on life often determines how you handle different situations in life. “The song is about the journey that we as musicians share with one heart and how we can inspire each other and our audiences to look at the world from a higher perspective and see how beautiful it really is. To see the hope and that we are really enough to give one another hope and inspiration, because we are giving ourselves to one another,” says Anique from Kaleidoskoop.
Len Muller picked the opening tune of the song on his guitar during a meeting with Starburst Promotions while Anique came up with the idea of the hot air balloon (Lugballon) as a metaphor. Joshua na die Reën pulled it all together and wrote most of the lyrics and handled the production and most of the additional instruments while Leon Gropp and Jouba Jordaan (Kaleidoskoop) assisted with brain storming and advice.
It is a huge challenge to get 7 musicians to work together and get them all at the same place at the same time due to different careers and responsibilities. To choose the voices that will blend together where only two sing together was a big task, but each musician’s unique sound can be recognized immediately. To combine and marry theses styles in the chorus was also challenging, but the talented Gideon Botes, who recorded and mixed the song, did it phenomenally well and the end result is amazing! The song, vocals, guitar, violin and cello was recorded in only one day!
